Selena Lai Grade 9
What grade are you in?
J: 9
How long have you studied/taken biology at Palmer?
J: almost two years (grade eight and nine)
What are the pros and cons of the biology classes here?
J: pros would be that the labs are fun because we get to experiment with different materials. Cons would be that biology would be difficult to grasp if you missed any classes
What is your favourite thing about those classes?
J: the labs, like dissecting animals and seeing the reactions of other students
Would you recommend biology to future Palmer students?
J: for higher grades like grade 11 and 12, maybe, but if you’re like not the best at science then biology is probably not the easiest to learn
What advice would you give to upcoming students?
J: stay ahead of your classes, don’t get lazy with biology class, because those body parts and stuff are hard to memorize and learn of you’re always skipping classes.
Out of ten, what would you rate the biology classes here at Palmer?
J: out of ten... probably a 6 or 7
S: seriously.
J: I'm serious. The classes here are fun and educational but lowkey hard
Do you want to say anything else about biology?
J: stay organized. And always study for unit tests and learn how to properly identify different cells and bones and muscles basically just learn everything beforehand to make sure you don't fail the unit tests.
chemistry
What is Chemistry?
Chemistry is the study of scientific elements and their behaviour. This subject studies subatomic particles, atoms, compounds, ions (cation, anions, covalent compounds, ionic compounds, etc), chemical reactions, and more. Chemistry focuses on the way things interact and form with eachother.

Frank Xu Gr 10

1.What was your first impression of chemistry?
I find chemistry very interesting and how the characteristics of atoms work

2. What's the coolest experiment you've done so far?
We explored how hydrochloric acid affects the metal zinc

3.What's one thing in chemistry that you find tricky or confusing?
balancing equations.

4.How has studying chemistry changed the way you see things in your daily life?

Now I understand what everything is made of and what some experiments do and make.

5.What's one piece of advice you'd give to a student who is about to start chemistry?
Don’t be stuck on one question when you’re doing a quiz..
Aliza Khan Gr10

1.What was your first impression of chemistry?
its very complicated once you indulge into the course

2.What's the coolest experiment you've done so far?
making volcanoes with baking soda and vinegar to demonstrate acid base reactions

3.What's one thing in chemistry that you find tricky or confusing?
balancing equations

4..How has studying chemistry changed the way you see things in your daily life?
it changed the way that i believe everything works?

5.What's one piece of advice you'd give to a student who is about to start chemistry?
pay VERY close attention towards class discussions
Brianna Zhang: Gr 9

1. What was your first impression of chemistry?
I thought it was about learning about elements and doing experiments to make things explode

2. What's the coolest experiment you've done so far?
Elephant Toothpaste Experiment by mixing different chemicals and their reactions

3. What's one thing in chemistry that you find tricky or confusing?
One thing I find tricky is the measurements and how we’re supposed to do lab procedures.

4. How has studying chemistry changed the way you see things in your daily life?Chemistry changed the way I see development in the things around me and all the things that react to each other.

5. What's one piece of advice you'd give to a student who is about to start chemistry?
I’d say read lab procedures more than once and if you still don’t get it ask someone you understand before the experiment
Interview with student 4
Selena Lai Grade 9

What grade are you in?
T: 10
How long have you studied/taken chemistry at Palmer?
T: nearly 3 years
What are the pros and cons of the chemistry classes here?
T: pros are like that you can mix chemicals and cons are that chemistry formulas are hard to learn (at first) all that information may be overwhelming at first
What is your favourite thing about those classes?
T: learning about atoms and ions. I like drawing the Bohr models because they are fun to sketch out and ions are easy to learn, once you learn about ions and understand the information, seeing electrons getting transferred and shared becomes interesting
Would you recommend chemistry to future Palmer students?
T: yeah definitely. It's fun and educational
What advice would you give to upcoming students?
T: probably just study hard, don’t skip class, study alot at home and try to study more than what you learned so the next classes aren’t as overwhelming with too much information
Out of ten, what would you rate the chemistry classes here at Palmer?
T: 8 out of 10
Do you want to say anything else about chemistry?
T: Chemistry is fun.

What is Math?
Math is the study of number and its equations, such as their properties, relationships, measurements, structures, and more. It relies on problem solving and logic skills that are able to break down complicated equations into detailed pieces one by one.

Ryden Lui
1. Calc 11
2. Smart
3. Dangerous
4. Encourage question asking more in private bc its lowkey obscure
5. Math is very study intensive and it has made me realize to improve my study - discipline in order to succeed.
Parma Tam
1. Math 9
2. Funny numbers like sigma and 67
3. It is very hard and I constantly mess up; small mistakes compound easily
4. encourage grade skipping bcus its lowkey niche
5. solve artimaticss
Aditya Mittal
1. Enriched Calc 11 Incentive
2. Math is very fun because I can learn how to count
3. Don't like test because they ut very pressure on me
4. Less test
5. Math helps me because it teaches basic artimatics and counting

Student 1 (grade 9)

What is your favourite thing about English Literature?
J: I like writing my own essays, it's like writing my own story in class. This improves my critical and creative thinking, and my English class taught me a professional format for writing (story plot line).
Also, I like reading short stories because it's unlike other draining classwork, and more like silent reading which is calming and I like reading. The stories my teacher picks are really interesting too.

What advice would you give to future students?
J: I would say study hard, keep up with classwork, don't fall behind, and read or revise at home daily.

What is one important in English Literature?
J: I think the most important units in English Literature would be short stories (reading) and the writing unit, because they focus on expressing through words (writing it down).
